Oak Island Charter Fishing FAQs

Playin Hooky Oak Island Charter Boat

What do I need to bring?

Medications, Sunscreen, food, drink, and a positive attitude to catch fish! We also recommend cameras, movie cameras, and a hat.  If the weather may change, a light jacket and/or rain gear may be needed.  The captain can tell you the night before what to expect.  Please feel free to request a call by dialing 910-520-6422, and the captain will call you when he is able.

What about the weather?

The day can be planned, but the weather cannot.  We have tons of technology to let us know things like rain, wave height, winds, and so on.  We will advise the night before or sooner as to what you can expect, and what you should bring on your trip.

Our weather in our area is very unique and can change very fast.  Our captains are very experienced in this area as well, and may change the plan to fish that morning (Sometimes a northern wind makes a smoother ride north or south of us, and we may fish inshore for a more safe and more pleasant ride.  We are blessed with the ability to do this, as a lot of others may be forced to call off the charter!

How many people can go on the boat?

No more than 6 passengers on any of our boats.  The trips are usually charged by the boat, and you may be able to share the charge on the number of people.  (Ex.  600.00 trip = $100.00 X 6 people, or 125.00 X 4 people).

The fewer the people on any boat makes it more comfortable, but our smallest boat can still hold 6 passengers, a captain, and a mate!

How old can you be?

There are no age limits although we ask that if you take children under 12 years of age, the charter must be specific to your family.  If the trip has to be shortened or altered due to kids (and some adults! lol) not wanting to go faster, not as far, or just had too much sun or fishing and wanted to call it quits early.  This is just being respectful of others and makes a better trip for everyone.

Are Your Boats Coast Guard Certified?

Yes!  We are USCG certified Captains and Masters of boats and mates.  We are also First Aid & CPR certified.  If you have any questions or concerns, or need to meet with the captain to see credentials, please feel free!

How safe is it?

Whether you are a novice or seasoned professional, we aim to please, we strive to give everyone aboard the adventure of a lifetime!

Can I get a refund on the trip?

— BOOKING POLICIES —

A deposit of 1/3 total trip cost is required to hold trip date. Deposit must be received within 10 days to hold trip date. A cancellation must be made at least 2 weeks prior to trip date booked for full refund of deposit (pro-rated afterwads, unless that trip date is re-booked). Weather cancellation is made by the Captain only the morning of the trip. Re-booking or refund of deposit will be made.
